Mr Weatherill says for the summit to be successful, it is crucial that Aboriginal leaders attend and have their voices heard.
He says while the views of many white people have been heard, it's important to get advice from Aboriginal people as well.
Mr Weatherill says he wants the summit to achieve a shared commitment by Commonwealth and State governments to a new and sustained program of real investment in remote Aboriginal Communities.
“The only solutions lie in State governments with their services, Commonwealth government with their funding arrangements and other services, and local communities and their leaders working carefully together. And it's long hard work in isolated communities, but that is the only solution,” he said.
Mr Weatherill will take advice from the indigenous leaders when making decision at the summit, but it is unclear whether the leaders will be able to directly address proceedings.
The Minister says he will soon contact leaders from the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunyatjara and Maralinga Jarutja land in South Australia's far north and west.
The Aboriginal Affairs summit will be held in Canberra on June the 26th.
