The federal government has set up a national inquiry on the possibility of introducing nuclear power in Australia.

Labor claims Mr Howard plans to introduce nuclear power, and has called on the government to details where nuclear reactors would be built.

But Mr Howard told the ABC he has no plans either way, and just wants to consider all the issues.

“Mr Beazley and others can run a short-term fear campaign, and they will. They will say there is going to be a nuclear reactor just around the corner. Of course they will do all of that. He did that on the Goods and Services Tax, he has done that on industrial relations. He always does that,” Mr Howard said.
