The Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation has confirmed there have been four accidents have occurred at its facilities in past eight days.

The revelations followed a leaked email detailing an accident at Lucas Heights on June the 8th, and come just days after the Prime Minister announced an inquiry into the feasibility of nuclear power.

Labor's environment spokesman, Anthony Albanese, says there's an urgent need to tighten monitoring and reporting processes about Australia's existing nuclear facilities.

“Now when it comes to nuclear issues, we need complete transparency. It's little wonder that John Howard, through his nuclear inquiry, is determined to not let the Australian public know where he plans to put nuclear reactors or where he plans to put nuclear waste,” Mr Albanese said.
