In a unanimous decision, the Board decided that two of the eight books it was asked to review by the federal Attorney-General were unsuitable for sale in Australia.
The books were called 'Defence of the Muslim Lands' and 'Join the Caravan'.
Convenor of the Board, Maureen Shelley, says the decision to ban the books from sale was given after a long period of consideration, including weighing up the implications on freedom of speech.
“Both of them specifically focused on what they called on martyrdom operations, which includes suicide-bombings and also operations where people would single-handedly go into areas where they could do the most amount of damage with rifles or some other weaponry.”
