The 61-year-old woman complained Len Kiely made several crude remarks after he was refused alcohol in a government corporate box at an international cricket match in Darwin, where it’s believed 107 Crown Lager stubbies were consumed in box over the day.
In an incident report handed to the government and cricket authorities, the unnamed woman alleges the behaviour began when she refused him alcohol, "Kiely then told me he had a very long tongue and he could use it on me and make me a very happy woman."
The woman’s statement said Mr Kiely made other crude remarks but she "switched off as I did not wish to hear any more filth".
Apology
Mr Kiely has already sought out the guard and apologised for his behaviour.
By stepping down as Deputy Speak and other key positions, including Chair of the public accounts committee, Mr Kiely will lose about $18,000 a year. But he says he has accepted his behaviour was offensive, even if he could not remember making the comments.
"I deeply regret that my behaviour at an official function was offensive to a member of the public."
Mr Kiely denied his inability to remember the incident was because he was drunk, "It is unfortunate that I was drinking at the time but that in no way mitigates my behaviour."
NT Chief Minister Clare Martin described Mr Kiely's behaviour as "stupid and unacceptable" but added the incident did not warrant him quitting the territory’s politics entirely.
The security guard would not make a formal complaint.
