Karr was flown to the United States Sunday from Bangkok, where he was arrested in connection with the murder of JonBenet.

She was found beaten and strangled in the basement of her wealthy parents' home the day after Christmas in 1996.

The 41-year-old teacher appeared at the extradition hearing in court here dressed in an orange prison jumpsuit and stated through a lawyer that he would not contest the transfer.

Judge Luis Lavin advised Karr that the charges against him include first-degree murder after deliberation, felony murder, kidnapping and sexual assault on a child.

The judge said that Colorado officials had not given a date for Karr's transfer to the state. Court sources said the transfer was expected within days.

Karr was returned to a high-security cell at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility, where he is being held without bail, separated from other inmates and under close supervision.

Before the hearing, federal authorities in Los Angeles County charged Karr with being a fugitive from justice, to allow his extradition to Colorado under interstate laws on the transfer of suspects.

Karr, who was already wanted in California for possession of child pornography, was arrested in Bangkok on August 16 in cooperation with US law enforcement officials.

While Karr's arrest has revived huge interest in the murder there is widespread speculation that Karr might not be the actual killer.

Thai police have said he had confessed to unintentionally killing Ramsey, telling them he was "in love" with JonBenet.
