A new report by the Australian Thyroid Foundation has found that most pregnant woman lack awareness about the importance of thyroid heath.

The Foundation is warning that without correct levels of iodine, the next generation are at risk of impaired motor function, lower I-Q levels and stunted growth.

It says iodine is best supplied and readily available through iodised salt or a daily iodine supplement.
