But according to a spokesman for the state Premier Morris Iemma outlawing the game "was not a simple proposition", as the federal communications minister and attorney-general had to be involved.

The object of the game, which can be downloaded from the internet, is to buy property in the Sutherland Shire, where Cronulla is located, in order to donate money to right-wing groups and "win back Australia".

It carries photographs of the riot and is "dedicated to all those who stood up for fair dinkum Aussies".

Like Monopoly, the players move around the game board occasionally landing on "Aussie Luck" squares which require the player to pick up cards which either fine, reward or send them back to the start.

The Luck cards in the game contain slogans such as:"Filipinos set up a mail order bride company, pay $10" and "Indian taxi driver attacks Aussie passengers pay $15".

However most of the cards focus on people of Lebanese and Middle Eastern origin, such as "Lone Aussie is bashed by Lebanese gang on Cronulla beach, pay $15".

Other cards referred to the gang-rape of Australian women and other violent crimes associated with last year's riots.

Premier Iemma has told reporters that he plans to make contact with the federal government and to seek legal advice over whether the board game, which carries slogans such as "we grew here, you flew here", breached the NSW Anti-Discrimination Act.
