INDIANA

In Monroe County, the FBI was investigating allegations that a Democratic volunteer at a polling site was carrying uncounted absentee ballots.

VIRGINIA

In the tight Senate race between Republican George Allen and Democrat Jim Webb, the FBI was probing reports of phone calls apparently encouraging voters to stay home on election day. Other calls directed voters to the wrong polling place.

ARIZONA

In Arizona, three men, one of them armed, stopped Hispanic voters and questioned them outside a Tucson polling place, according to voting monitors for the Mexican American Legal Defence and Educational Fund.

MARYLAND

Sample ballots suggesting Republican Governor Robert Ehrlich and Senate candidate Michael Steele were Democrats were handed out by people bused in from out of state.

Democrats outnumber Republicans in Maryland by nearly 2-to-1.

OHIO

A federal judge in Cleveland ordered 16 Cuyahoga County polling locations stay open 90 minutes past the scheduled 7:30 pm close because of earlier delays caused by voting machine problems and long lines. Some people waited as long as 14 hours.
