Sir Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart, two of the UK's best known actors have come together for a theatrical revival of Samuel Beckett's play 'Waiting for Godot'.

A love of live theatre reunited the two icons, who have previously appeared together in the X-Men trilogy.

The unconventional play with no discernable plot or conventional character development has been deemed a modern classic and features two homeless men, who are waiting for someone who will never come.

The Director, Sean Mathias says this particular performance is distinctly of the times. It calls for a reconsideration of our daily lives, outside consumerism and learned rituals amidst the continuing global financial crisis.

The play has been historically performed in extreme circumstances, in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and by Susan Sontag during the Sarajevo siege.
