A group of young orang-utans in a Miami zoo has learned to use iPads to identify food, while others have even used Skype.

Zoo staff say the orang-utans have used an iPad to draw and are now able to identify symbols – such as a banana or a peanut -- using an app called 'Tap to Talk'.

At another sanctuary in Florida some have even used the iPad to Skype each other. The staff say they want to raise awareness of the plight of orang-utans, as their natural habitat is being lost.
