Greek election: Timeline, possible outcomes and Australian impact

We should know just before the end of Monday's trading day, the winner of the Greek election, and more importantly, gain a better understanding of whether the country will keep or dump the euro currency.

There has been a two- week blackout, so there is no recent indication of which party is likely to win, however, earlier polls suggested 78 per cent of Greeks want to still stay in the euro. Read more

Qantas takeover in the wings?

Five years ago, Airline Partners Australia failed to successfully takeover Qantas by the narrowest of margins.

It's final offer of $5.60 per share, was backed by the company's board, but shareholders rejected the move. Read more

Spain aid likely to boost local market

The Australian sharemarket is closed today for the Queen's Birthday public holiday, but it looks like it should be in for a cracker of a day, when it reopens tomorrow, if it mimics the moves of Asian markets.

Japan and Hong Kong markets rose around 2 per cent, following moves to shore up Spain's banks at the weekend. Read more

Will the RBA cut by 0.5% again on Tuesday?

The Australian sharemarket lost more than $20billion dollars today.

Since its high point on May 1st, shares are down 10.4 per cent meaning the market has entered into a technical correction. It comes as unemployment rises in both the US and Eurozone. Read more
