Aaron spent five years as a Dateline producer, before becoming a US-based video journalist.

Aaron Thomas came to Dateline in 2007 as a Supervising Producer based in Sydney, before moving to New York in 2012 to work as one of the program's video journalists.

His experience as a producer and editor spans nearly 20 years working for a number of international broadcasters, including Reuters Television in Tokyo and the BBC, ITN, ABC (America) and ZDF (Germany) in London, as well as the ABC's Lateline program and SBS's Insight in Sydney.

Aaron has a Masters degree in International Relations from the University of New South Wales and a BA in Film and Television from Curtin University.

He's also worked on oddball projects ranging from a short film shot in a Welsh coal town to Samoa's broadcast of the South Pacific Games and a documentary series on Islamic architecture for BBC World.
