Prime Minister Tony Abbott has offered words of encouragement to the Australian winter Olympic team.
Sixty athletes will be representing Australia, the largest winter team in history.
Australian athletes are competing in fifteen sports.
Speaking alongside his visiting New Zealand counterpart, Mr Abbott said he is optimistic for Australia's success.
"We have high hopes in a number of those contests and I wish Australian athletes well and may I also wish New Zealand athletes well."
