    LONDON (Reuters) - Young table tennis players from Japan, Germany and the United States gave a glimpse at London 2012 that they could challenge China's Olympic dominance in the future, in a tournament lit up by a rocking atmosphere, Chinese brilliance and a one-shoe winner.

    LONDON (Reuters) - China are two wins away from another clean-sweep of Olympic table tennis golds at London 2012 after their men's team won a hard-fought game over Germany and their women cruised past South Korea.

    LONDON (Reuters) - Japan are guaranteed to win their first Olympic table tennis medal after their young, attacking women's team enjoyed an emphatic 3-0 win over Singapore in the semi-finals on Sunday.

    Led by 19-year-old Kasumi Ishikawa and Ai Fukuhara, 23, the second seeds secured at least a silver medal as they set up a probable final with red-hot favourites China on Tuesday.

    Zhang, the 24-year-old reigning world champion and pre-tournament favourite, won 4-1 over his compatriot. He celebrated by leaping over the court surround and kissing the gold medal podium and then draping himself in a Chinese flag.

    LONDON (Reuters) - World number one Zhang Jike said he played the game of his life to set up an all-Chinese table tennis final with Wang Hao on Thursday as Asia maintained a 20-year stranglehold on the competition.

    Zhang won 4-1 in his semi-final against Germany's Dimitrij Ovtcharov, who was bidding to become the first European to win gold since Sweden's Jan-Ove Waldner triumphed in Barcelona in 1992.

    LONDON (Reuters) - China's Ding Ning sobbed and accused an umpire of ruining her Olympic dream when she lost the table tennis gold medal to compatriot Li Xiaoxia on Wednesday.

    Li emerged a 4-1 winner from a tense and tetchy encounter in which the favourite Ding was put through the emotional wringer after she was punished with three penalty points that left her railing at Italian official Paola Bongelli.
