The skit has caused a storm of controversy.

The skit has caused a storm of controversy.

The producers of Channel Nine's show Hey Hey it's Saturday were forced to apologise following a skit in which the Jackson Five were depicted with blacked faces, prompting guest star Harry Connick Jr to express his distaste on air. Some say it's racist, is the outrage justified or is it political correctness gone too far?

Guest star Harry Connick Jr expressed his distaste on the show, saying: 'Americans have spent so much time trying to not make black people look like buffoons, that when we see something like that we take it really to heart'.

Get over yourselves

Gavin - from Perth, 3 years ago

There was no racist intent in the skit, it was more a joke about jackson then anything. And don't try and call me racist against darked skinned people just because you have no argument like always, I am Indian and would there fore hate myself. There are too many people afraid to think for themselves just because someone could use the R word! :O

Being Racist for hundreds of years is not a good excuse

Albert Myer - from Melbourne, 3 years ago

Since the very day day the white man put foot here in this land, he has been racist and even the new migrants who are not so white or anglosaxon like Italians, Mediterranians, Eastern Europeans, South Americans strongly believe to continue this tradition in order to be accepted as Australian. And most of them have expressed their view in favour of being Racist and feeling Proud of it.

Why do we have to selfsatisfy with other Countrys Racist Attitudes

William Woodman - from Victoria, 3 years ago

If we talk about racism in USA , then certainly we are trying to feel better, this is called compensatory inferiority complex. And why our world is so limited that it does not recognises the whole planet. Why we Australins always congratulate ourself on the basis of Ostrich mentality. Do we deserve to be totally isolated from the rest of the planet ??? and repeating racism in this land located in South East ASIA

get over it

The skit was silly, and in bad taste. Possibly in bad tatse. The PC Nazis can see racism in anything these days, and I for one am sick of hearing about their little tantrums. If you don't like a show, or a part of a show, turn to another channel. I do. You can always go back when the horrible little skit is over.

African American Living in Australia

Chris - from Brisbane, 3 years ago

I am a 50 year old African American Male who lives in Brisbane. One thing that I have learned in my life time over the last 50 years. is that one of the foundations of racism is "ignorance". So will have to chalk up the Hey Hey skit to that! Ignorance!

Realisation

James - from Melbs, 3 years ago

I have decided after a long read that no one on this site actually knows what they are talking about. I know the real answer to this issue but everyone here is so STUPID that I won't degrad my solution by letting you know. POW!!
