You all seem to have forgotten
You all seem to have forgotten that Australia made the FIFA World Cup. Of course this was then nipped in the bud by Italy, but my god it proved that Australia will give anything a good fair go! Never forgetting the amazing work that Australia has done in bringing peace and aid to those in need around the world.
Ups and Downs
Highs: Bush/Blair/Howard getting the boot, esp Howard getting voted out of his own seat. Watching communities become more active in their own future. Seeing Iranian protestors using social media to get their news out. Getting married to a lovely person. Buying a house. Lows: Kevin Rudd's callowness. The Clean Feed. No action on climate change. Internet censorship. Racism on the rise. No same-sex marriage. Stupid house prices. Anything said or authored by Andrew Bolt.
Australia Discriminated Agaiinst.
LOW: The official UN deal, issued at the landmark summit on global warming on Friday, says rich countries must slash greenhouse gas emissions but countries like China & India don't have to.The draft deal sets out tough conditions for rich countries like Australia. They would have to cut emissions by at least 25 per cent by 2020, and by at least 75 per cent by 2050 - but China & India don't have to unless paid to do so. HIGH POINT FOR FUTURE: A strong government to STAND UP for Australia.
Re-hope to get the trio
Well, now we know that Blair intentionally lied about Saddam's capability, so there MUST be a different unclaimed reason why Bush-Blair-Howard really went in there. Since they haven't declared the real reason, my guess is it is astonishly unacceptable. My highlight of the decade is my suspisions about these war criminals are realised and now I hope within the next decade they face justice.
More lows
Low light : Australia attempting to be the only western democracy with mandatory internet censorship. All because of the ALP's relationship with religious lobby groups. Where is the filter report Conroy, its been over 6 weeks since you received it. We are waiting. Highlight: Apology to stolen generation.
