Will Copenhagen achieve anything?
Leaders from 192 countries have until December 18 to come up with an agreement. (Getty Images)
It is now clear that a legally binding agreement will not be reached at the climate change summit in Copenhagen. But there are still hopes that the talks will pave the way for a successor to the Kyoto protocol which could be introduced next year. What do you expect from this historic conference?

WHAT HAPPENED TO KEVIN
the media has a hush protecting Kevin and his handlers soon aussies will see their media is as unreliable manipulative and incompetent as the political party it promoted at the last election. We are so lucky Copenhagen was just a slosh party for the worlds flashest puppets. How much has Kevins globe trotting cost and what positives (for Australia) has it produced?
Selfish and Short-sighted
Which politician can hope to survive without pandering to selfish interests? Even Obama with his resounding rhetoric cannot change the vested interests that possess the American psyche. Sacrifice does not come easily and few are willing to give up today's pleasures to halt tomorrow's catastrophe. After all they may not be here tomorrrow; even if their children may be. Politics will never solve our global problems; justice, peace and now climate change.
To Mike
You make it sound like a bad thing that a large number of jobs and large proportion of regional communities wont be devestated due to us still sucking at that coal. Do you like a majoity of people use air coditioning at work or at home (perhaps you own a car). If the anthropogenic climate change belivers were serious in their convictions they would stop using air conditiong. But of course the slight discomfort is to much to handle. One of many hypocrisies the ignorant massess dont consider.
Copenhagen
Now that the public is getting aware of the prose and cons of ‘climate change’ it is not too much to ask of mankind to slow down on unbridled consumption in one corner, disparity in another, the associated waste of resources and resulting pollution on the planet as a whole; in order to clean up the world irrespective of what ever the agenda of the groups involved. It is just good manners to be concerned citizens , for which we do not have to wait for the Governments to legislate upon.
General Rant
When will the large majority of people stop swallowing what their told by politicans and green groups with agendas and investigate the arguments for and against anthropogenic climate change for themselves. Its alright to have an informed opinion one way or another but to assume climate change is occuring because Kev, Penny or any other individual with an agenda tells you so is pathetic. We really are a nation of individuals who thrive on feeling like the sky is going to fall down.
