Is Abbott's climate change policy viable?
Opposition Leader Tony Abbott has presented the Coalition climate change policy.
Opposition leader Tony Abbott has unveiled a climate change policy which he says will cut emissions at a much lower cost than the Rudd government.
Special Feature: Climate Change
Mr Abbott plans to cut emissions by 5 per cent by 2020 with a $3.2 billion scheme that involves solar energy, biosequestration and planting 20 million trees.

Occam's Razor
Womble, I like to subscribe to the principle of Occam's Razor - is it more likely that in the light of sweeping, possibly catastrophic environmental change, our governments will be callow, and keep on at business as usual, OR is it most likely that a secret cabal of civil servants, banks and private corporations invented AGW to steal tax money off us to buy nicer houses and boats? The theories do not match reality. Conspiracy theories depend so much on a totally unhinged perception of reality.
if it stinks like dog poo.....
Mike from Melbourne - I guess if people spend enough time doing research on theories and the research matches the reality, I guess you'd have to assume if it smells like, looks like and smells like something, it probably is.
It's not rocket science.
Most people couldn't comprehend of such a massive decpetion - therein lies the beauty of it for those who are doing the dodgy stuff - most people don't think.
Beer, pay tv and not thinking - keys to an easy life.. until reality bites...
Conspiracy nuts
The topic is: Do you think Abbott's (admittedly laughable) climate policy is viable? NOT: Do you think UFO's and the Bavarian Illuminati are putting psychedelic mind control drugs in your coffee, poking holes in your tin foil hat, and stealing death ray technology from the martian pyramids, all with the assistance of the Rockefellers and an international banking conspiracy. Australia is a major contributor to carbon emissions. AGW is happening. The question is what are we going to do about it?
Don't balme China/India
Planting trees is an important exercise - but we can do and should do far better than just that. We have to gradually reduce our reliance on filthy industries, We are still living in a mediaeval industrial past where it was OK to just rip out resources and not pay or compensate for the consequences. We can't just transfer our industrial pollution to China/India and then blame them either.

dear friends and citizens I agree with tony Abbott because tony has good sensible plan and will not be new tax as prime minister Kevin Rudd insist . Australia is not polluting atmosvera but India and chine do pollute recklessly. god bless Australia. Gloria patri Australia
Say no to their brave new world
Watch 'Fall of the Republic' free on youtube. Understand that this is just another stepping stone for them to hammer through their World Government. Find out what their putting into the air we breathe, the food we eat, the water we drink, the frequencies of your mobile phones and other devices and what effect they have on you. What's really in Vaccinations and not what the side effects are, but the EFFECTS. The list is long. Don't wait till it comes to your doorstep before you open your eyes.
lets get real
If all the money from "global warming" studies and research (not to mention the copenhagen summit) was just put into planting some &^%@*!@* TREES that would save alot of time!!!! not only do trees remove the CO2 from the air naturally (if that is/could be the problem to begin with) is it not cooler when you sit under a tree??? trees are the air conditioning of the world. wake up! we dont want to be taxed on something trees can do for free
We are not god
Humans contribute so little to greenhouse gases. One average size volcano emits more CO2 than humans and their fossil fuels can in 100 years of industrialization. As more CO2 enters the atmosphere, plants and wildlife flourish. Human civilizations have done better in the past when the weather was warmer. It is sulfer dioxide, not CO2, that creates smog. Learn the truth.
