Is Australia racist?
Following the recent attacks on Indian students in Victoria, SBS asks whether or not Australia is a racist country.
Anti racism campaigners are calling on the government to send a stronger message to the general public by appointing a full time race commissioner.

Ridiculous
I am glad that they are appointing a full time race commissioner but I'm not sure how doing so will do anything but raise taxes. Racism is not a wide-spread problem, at least in my opinion, and is normally felt by a very select group of individuals. The only thing that will really end racism is universal acceptance through education and I doubt people who are racist will be willing to sit through anything like that.
wheres the balance?
We are suffering from Institutionalised racism. The government give indigenous people and migrants more handouts than us. We are having to wait longer for subsidised government housing, we pay more rent than they do in these homes compared to the same circumsatances. They receive more money from unemployment, Education is cheaper or paid for. Why wouldn't we be racist?
Indians Killing Indians and Crying Racism for Sympathy
Most indians who are here Only desire Immigration and later Unemployment benefit Only , Are involved in bogus studies like Cooking which is no good for a year 8 fail punjabi villager from Haryana . These do not represent the genuine Indian Students who will 100% go back and work in India & Not be applying for Immigration (yr 2009 500,000 did) Most ( AT least 25% of these Indians have false passports and false made up documents , som eare also carrying serious Tuberculosis (thanks to mediacl te
Isians taking China s example and keep getting stronger & Powerful
Ref; Milton,From: Melbourne19 Mar 2010 0:19 AEST Cannot Thank You I wish people analyse these commnents then write. Good Example :Lazy and Racially Racist West has helped China a sthe worlds most powerful country, which is not running on borrowed money and egoistic Bullying. All those people who are not as good looking and who have additional languages for communication as Anglosaxons ( Only while they are young , not Old) Shuld take China s example and keep getting stronger &Powerful.
Where to
Constant tension and conflict within all five of the Indian sub-continent countries, entrench in rigid cast system and violence against women and girls. Going by the latest case, violence against Indians here is proven once again, Indian against Indians, and not as they would like us to believe Australians going out deliberately killing and maiming Indians. If they feel unsafe and unfairly targetted, easily fixed–leave. May be the sub-continent is safer and more prosperous.
Absurd racist remarks
How absurd to state that immigrants came here from "lawless" countries or other "immigrants" to suggest that people should leave if they do not agree with racist ideas. There needs to be open and frank discussion about the topic. There certainly are some very disturbed individuals who have made their absurd racist remarks on this site
racism
If you new anything about Australian history yes they are racist they had a white policy till about 1964. Australia is based on a multicultural country, and for ignorant people to say just because you let some into the country dose not mean your not racist. As long as we have society there will be tension and racism in some sort of shape and form. I believe Australia the government especially are good at trying to forget things and move on then trying to deal with the situation head on.
