Should celebrity tweeters disclose their sponsorships?

The South Australian Tourism Commission has defended paying celebrities to promote Kangaroo Island tourism to their followers on Twitter. Sponsored tweeting is becoming more and more common. Do you think such marketing strategy is ethical? And should celebrities disclose their sponsorships?

..... just because that jone's guy has got away with it over the years, does not mean everyone else should be allowed to avoid their ethical obligations. In fact, the more other people disclose, the more unethical the jones' of the world will look

Celebrity status generates an income for the so called celebrity (usually a non-achiever in anything else) plus for anyone who pays him/her in a marketing role. Money corrupts people and thats why, in a multitude of situations, a code of ethics and obligations to disclose, have been implemented. As Twitter is simply a new mechanism for celebrities to strut their stuff, they should be transparent about their income sources and tell us if they are being paid to push a product onto us

No, they should not. If it's good enough for Alan Jones, and other shock jocks to not disclose their paid for comment sponsorship, then similar rules should apply for them also. What's good enough for the public goose's, is good enough for the public gander's.

Yes they should disclose who has received what amount of money.
