The federal government has ordered two-thirds of private health funds to revise planned rises in premiums for this year.

The federal government has ordered two-thirds of private health funds to revise planned rises in premiums for this year.

 

Health Minister Tanya Plibersek has written to several insurers saying she believes the proposed increases are not in the public interest.

 

The move comes as the government's hopes of securing support in the House of Representatives for it's plan to means-test* the private health insurance rebate are improving.
