The last week or so has seen AOA's Choa be the centre of a number of rumours, including leaving the group and allegedly dating the CEO of an electronics company. The singer has now taken to Instagram to address these rumours, as well as apologise for how the past few weeks have affected others unrelated to the rumours.
Firstly, Choa addressed rumours of her departure with a post on her Instagram, writing that all the speculation about her leaving AOA is false and that she's merely on a break. She explained that she and the head of FNC Entertainment agreed on her taking a break late last year, but she was asked to not put out a statement on her social media. Choa then apologised for all the rumours before sincerely thanking everyone for their love and support.
Here's a translation of Choa's Instagram message about her rumoured departure:
“Hello, this is Choa! I was a little surprised by all the attention I got for the first long break I’ve had since my debut, but I’m sincerely grateful that you were thinking of me even when I’m not there.
I’ve been swept up in a controversy about my absence, but the break I took was something I had planned and discussed with the head of our company since before we filmed the music video for ‘Excuse Me’ in December 2016. I suggested letting you all know before I took the break because I knew you would be waiting for me, but I was advised against putting out an official statement for a personal break.
Our management team was of the opinion that I should refrain from using social media while on my break, so I complied though I wasn’t fully on board with the idea. I should have tried harder to persuade them for the sake of our waiting fans. I think I was too complacent. I want to sincerely apologize to all those who waited and showed their support for me.
It may be because I’m releasing this statement so late, but there are a lot of unkind speculations and rumors going around. All I’m doing is being on a break that I had planned in advance, so I hope that there are no more bad rumors that come out of this. To those posting these baseless speculations! Those really hurt the people they’re about. Please delete them.”
Choa then addressed the recent rumours regarding her dating life, apologising to all those affected by the drama, especially those unrelated to everything.
Here's a translation of Choa's response and apology to the recent dating rumours:
“I’ve always thought that I receive more love than I deserve from so many people. Even if people are pointing their fingers at me about something that is not true, I think of it as them showing interest in me, and am prepared to bow my head in thanks.
I am so sorry to those unrelated people that have been harmed. If articles about me have caused concern, I apologize. Please do not bother unrelated people anymore by connecting them to me, just because of my break.”
