Who knew they used to be K-pop idol trainees?!

These hot and rising stars are making their mark in the Chinese entertainment world but did you know they used to be ex-trainees under well-known Korean idol companies? 

1. Xing Zhaolin

After a series of supporting roles, Xing Zhaolin scored his first lead role in Chinese web-drama The Eternal Love. With the drama's success, his popularity skyrocketed and he currently has over 8 million followers on Weibo. He used to be a trainee under SM Entertainment and starred in EXO's "Wolf" music video drama version. (pictured here: 3rd guy from the right)

2. Chen Xuedong

Chen Xuedong, also known as Cheney Chen, trained to become a singer under Cube Entertainment before making his debut as an actor in the Tiny Times film franchise. He found success with his role as Zhou Chongguang in the film series and continues to be recognized for his talent, having won the Best Acting Performance award at the China TV Drama Awards last year.

3. Song Yangfei

Song Yangfei, also known as Cecilia Boey, is an Australian born Chinese actress who was a former JYP trainee. She made her acting debut in the Chinese TV drama Braveness of the Ming and has gone on to star in other dramas such as Jade Lover, Hero Dog 3 and Gentlemen.

4. Hou Minghao

A former SM Entertainment trainee, Hou Minghao made his acting debut in the movie Xiao Lin Zu Qiu (Funny Soccer). Since then, he has gone on to star in various Chinese movies and dramas including Angel Institute, The Devotion of Suspect X, Cambrian Period and Rakshasa Street.

5. Li Hongyi

Li Hongyi is another former SM Entertainment trainee. He garnered his first lead role in Chinese rom-com drama Master Devil Do Not Kiss Me and its sequel Master Devil Do Not Kiss Me 2. He is set to star in the upcoming dramas My Love from the Ocean and The Fated General.
