Dean is the son of Greek migrant parents. He has done all sorts of jobs including pizza making, tiling, and sales and has been working as a hairdresser at an upmarket salon for 6 years. He has never run a business. Dean's setting up his business on his own and he's the only person working there. He still lives at home, which is good for business, but he also feels he had something to prove…"people look at you differently when you own your own business". He's got a bumpy road ahead.

Andrew Alexandrou has been a tiler for most of his life. He is the middle son of five brothers of a first generation Greek family. His father ran a fish shop in the 70s and most of his brothers have all run their own small businesses. He has now decided to open a fish and chip shop. He is being supported in getting his shop up and running by his younger brother, Nick, a former taxi driver, who used to work in their father's fish shop. However while Nick knows how to cook fish and chips, he has never opened his own business up from scratch as Andrew is doing. Andrew has invested over $200,000 in the business, loaned against his family home.
