"We rehearsed at lunch times in the practice room," explains Wilkinson. They then recorded their own EP On the Prowel before being picked up by Virgin/EMI and UK’s Brille label. Operator Please are best known for their song Just a Song About Ping Pong which caused US gossip columnist Perez Hilton to hail them as the "hottest new band in the world."
