Italians: Muslims in Disguise

I've always loved Italy and Italians.  I felt a strange affinity with their approach to life, their love of family, their warmth, their general passion.

Now I think I've discovered why.  I think that deep down, Italians are Muslims.  They'll never tell you that, of course.  But every now and then it gives itself away.

By way of illustration, consider this educational video.  The intention is to illustrate how Italy differs from the rest of Europe.  Obviously, I found it funny.  But what struck me immediately was that you could just as easily replace the Italians in this video with Muslims, and it would be just as accurate.

So if you want to understand the Muslim world you can do it by watching this video.  Every one of these illustrations (with the exception of the coffee one) is completely authentic.

I would like to say I a teenage muslim convert, and the Qu'ran has improved my life so much, when I walk down the street I can hold my head high. I have some friends who are Italians but they, don't seem to be acting like muslims in disguise they are all christians. I hope everyone would just drop their weapons and live in peace for at least the month of Ramadan maybe that will help all people not just Muslims see hatred just breeds more hatred, im a pacifist and read about Mathatma Gandhi.

X is not Y i still didnt get why this video relate to muslim and y did a big argument developed this video shows the nature of italy and italian and has nothing to do with a certain religion this video remembers me with the nature of lebanon and lebanese too. The fact that lebanon has the biggest religion diversity in the world and almost the same population of christian and isalm shows that it is just a culture similarity. SPREAD LOVE not hate. CHEERS :)

Ali G, I looked up Dr.Naik, and found him calling for the execution of apostates at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZMAZR8YIhxI, for fewer religious rights for non-Muslims at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6jYUL7eBdHg&feature=related, and for Muslims to become terrorists at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bxk5AAA5FbI&feature=related. As founder of the Islamic International School, Naik represents the reason that Islam is so dreaded. However there ARE Muslims who speak against Naik’s kind of hate.

Using the 1st definition of a word is not "really selective use of the dictionary". Dictionary.com "Ideology: 1. the body of doctrine, myth, belief, etc., that guides an individual, social movement, institution, class, or large group." Now think how religions might fit that definition (e.g. "belief" "guides" "group") – it’s why an editorial at Islamonline would use "ideology" re. Islam, and why googling "religious ideology" reveals ubiquitous use (148,000 hits). Accept it's part of the language.

WA says: I'm not wasting my time on this anymore.

hello tc the 'school' site is approx. 1klm. from camden,on camden flood plains. in the opposite direction from the 100 muslim families living in the local govt. area. that would make it 21 klm's from the nearest official muslim.this school was an insensitive, brutal attempt to exploit 'cheap' land by a group who are based some 50 klm's away. lying to a small town about your plans is not the way its done. muslims should not have be told this.

lee i dont think we will change his mind no matter how many posts go on.he does not want to accept that religeon ceases to be soley a religeon when it has doctrines and policies that control entire nations and in fact actually does control entire nations.

WA says: It is possible for religion to descend into ideology.  That does not make them the same thing.  It's fairly simple, really.

Thinking dispassionately about religion can be hurtful - not due to intellect, but because religious people often identify strongly with their religion. I've provided definitions below from dictionary.com which demonstrate that religions are ideologies, and demonstrated their political interests, but still you can't accept this. I recognize that the ability to change one's mind is one of the greatest challenges for all of us, and still more painful for the devoutly religious. I wish you well.

WA says: Lee, sorry mate, but you're pursuing a really selective use of the dictionary - read all the definitions and examine the use of the word.  Better yet, use a political science dictionary given that "ideology" is a political term.  It's not a question of dispassionately thinking about religion.  It's a question of language, and you're simply wrong in your use of it.  I'm not sure why you're fighting this point.

Social impact doesn’t make an ideology, exactly matching the definition does. Ideology is the core and identity of religion, and political involvement is inherent – for good or ill. At Islamonline: "anyone who believes in the Islamic religion and ideology is an inalienable part of this nation". At youngmuslims: "The Shari'ah includes political, social and economic affairs and their principles, with the intent that they reflect complete submission to God alone." (*Not* that all Muslims agree!)

WA says: I don't even know what you're saying anymore.  The simple facts are that ideology and religion are radically different concepts.  The fact that some Muslim website has - like you - completely misused the term doesn't change that.

your getting a bit desperate ,the christian right in the U.S. while jewish terrorism pre 1948 is not widley known today it was a disgrace and inhuman, unless the state is threatened it won't resurface.hindu's probably a mix of muslim threat and new money into the economy. you underestimate the threats existing from these 3 to 5 islamic states there may be 7 to 9 in a few years but are proof of inapropriate political control.

WA says: None of which proves anything about "Islamic ideology".

Just an objective comment, I am not muslim, however the gentleman from Camden has stated that their are no Muslims in Camden, and that Muslim residents in the area live some 20km away from Camden. As I understand it, the proposed Islamic School was some distance from what might be called Camden, indeed the area looked fairly deserted. Perhaps then, if we are to be fair, we mustn't count this area as being in Camden? That might make objections fall out of your jurisdiction it would seem.

the power of islam today has been transformed from a 2nd world powerless religeon (outside of itself )controlling second world societies to a second world religeon with oil money to expand.expansion has lead to uncontrolled actions eg terrorism and this has highlighted the religeons deficiencies in comparison to first world countries.islams expansion will reverse or stop.the social conflict in migrated muslim societies will dilute them or eliminate the hard edge.religeon is old world.
