Passionate Apprentices

Synopsis

In a hidden valley in southern Tasmania, three men have spent decades mastering the ancient crafts of knife making, beekeeping and bread making. Now each has found an apprentice. Skills are being taught, secrets shared and passions passed on.

John the knife maker uses stone age techniques to forge blades from recycled steel, sharing his secrets with two apprentices.

Yves the Beekeeper makes honey using methods learnt in his French homeland. With his apprentice Marlin he plans to build new hives.

John the Baker takes his inspiration from the earliest baking techniques. With the help of his young apprentice, he uses ingredients including sprouted wheat and spelt flour.
