Synopsis

Silent Epidemic lifts the veil on the widespread heath problem of the secret world of self-injury among young people in Australia and the emerging science behind the identification and treatment of these adolescents. Our documentary has secured the full co-operation of one of the world’s pre-eminent authorities on the subject, Professor Graham Martin, OAM the Director of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Queensland. Graham’s passion is the prevention of suicide in adolescent Australian youth and this has lead him to research what motivates adolecesnts to self-harm.
