A Fork in Asia

Synopsis

Intrepid traveller Pria Viswalingam visits some of Australia’s nearest neighbours in this seventh series of the multi-award winning, A Fork in the Road, entitled A Fork in Asia.

Japan, Delhi, Beijing, Lebanon (yes, technically it is part of Asia), Nepal, Singapore, Guilin (China), and Thailand are his exotic destinations where he contrasts the lifestyles of the rich and the poor; looks at the role of women; questions the effect of tourism on the environment; visits the food markets and tries the local cuisine as well as indulging in the offerings of some of the best hotels in the region. And he examines the emergence of a modern Asia in countries which traditionally cling to their past.

Pria describes this new series as “...a fresh insight into the diverse countries that make up Asia.” He says, “We tend to lump Asia into one cultural mass - yet of course, the many cultures and heritages in the region are significantly different from each other. Additionally, owing to Australia’s cultural mix, Asia’s influence is increasingly fundamental in how we view ourselves.”

A Fork in Asia promises to build an atmosphere for the armchair traveller showing once again, that the world truly is an amazing place.
