Overview

A DVD collection of highlights of one of the most popular classical music events in the world; the famous annual New Year's concert of the Vienna Philharmonic.

At 11:15 on New Year's Day in Vienna, it's time for the most popular concert in the world. Every year, one of the great conductors steps on to the podium to lead the Vienna Philharmonic in the waltzes and polkas of the Strauss family. Compiled here are highlights from the finest concerts of the last thirty years – mingled with scenes of Vienna and performances by the State Opera Ballet.

This is a true "best of" in terms of the conductors: ranging from the legendary era of Willy Boskovsky in the 70's to the enthusiastic acclamation of the 2007 concert under the baton of Zubin Mehta, including unforgettable interpretations of Carlos Kleiber, Mariss Jansons, Seiji Ozawa and Lorin Maazel. It includes well-known favourites of the Strauss familiy, such as the Blue Danube waltz, Radetzkymarsch, Kaiserwalzer and Fruhlingsstimmen.

Best of New Year's Concert is a visual feast including great waltzes with ballet and the most famous sights of Vienna such as the Prater, Hofburg, Belvedere, Riesenrad, Spanish Riding school and Schonbrunn.

Yeah i dunno it wasnt that good sort of like Andre Reou but slower in bits and just kind of boring. Rather watch the drags or something.
