Overview

The 1996-2007 Howard government made the most determined attempt to change Australian society since the brief and revolutionary Whitlam era of the early 1970s. This three part series presents a provocative analysis of how the country changed as a result of one man’s determination to make his particular mark.

Liberal Rule explores the evolution, rule and impact of John Winston Howard. With the help of Howard himself, his closest Ministers, Chiefs of Staff and advisors, as well as Australia’s leading political historians, social scientists, economists and authors, the series examines the Howard philosophy and his reform agenda for the Australian economy, society and international relations.

Previous reviews are typical of Liberal contradiction, how can one of you hate it and one love it and still support them. Absolutely fantastic doco, incisive journalism and accurately portrays the Howard government's destructive conservatism. The interviews of former ministers, particularly Howard and Reith confirms their contemptuous attitude they had towards the people and for democratic government.

I enjoyed the doco and cannot wait for 3rd part. A fabulous portrait of politics in the era. Not judgemental and precise with the information. For an immigrant, I feel proud of Howard's team achievement. Buying the dvd for my children to get a understanding of values and australian poli.
