Corner Gas is a trip to the laughter-rich town of Dog River, a spec on the map forty kilometres from the middle of nowhere. A place where the quirky, eclectic cast of characters make this town a hilarious pit-stop and anything but small.
Popular comedian Brent Butt returns to small town Saskatchewan, Canada to portray the life he would have led had he gotten a real job - pumping gas at Corner Gas. Each episode of Corner Gas delivers a half-hour of comedic voyeurism in a place where everyone knows everyone else's business.
The series is set in the fictional town of Dog River, and focuses on the life (or lack thereof) of gas station owner Brent LeRoy, coffee shop proprietor Lacey Burrows and the folks who populate the area. Dog River is a nice town, but far from the quaint and idyllic little suburbs we're used to seeing on TV.
Brent Butt is an award-winning comedian, David Storey is an award-winning director, Virginia Thompson is an award-winning producer and Mark Farrell is an award-winning writer.

One of my most favourite shows to watch, I'd put Corner Gas as equal to A Bit Of Fry And Laurie in terms of hilarity. A refreshing and brilliant show. Please, SBS, SHOW IT AGAIN!!
Really enjoyed this show. Wish SBS would show it again. Suitable for all ages.
One of the funniest shows I've seen in such a long time. I'd almost put it on a par with 'Frasier'. With so many so-called comedies using profanity to get cheap laughs, this hilarious show is a refreshing change. I am so going to collect all six series.
Thank you SBS. Great script - original lovable ensemble of characters and a great theme tune. Every episode a joy. Australian scriptwriters and program makers please watch and see how it should be done.
Very funny with eight great quirky characters. Where are the rest of the series (2 - 6) ?? Or will I be forced to order them from another source?
Hello Barnes family, Corner Gas, Series 2 is due out at the end of July 2009.
Great show, wonderful quirky characters, and many laughs throughout. An odd time to show it, as many people will miss out enjoying this Canadian series. Any chance the SBS shop will stock Series 2-6? We don't want to buy them from overseas!

I lived in Canada and now I live in country nsw, I identified with some of these people. Great show
