Overview

As international terrorism and organised crime become more and more intertwined, Western nations find themselves increasingly threatened by violence and lawlessness on an unimaginable scale.

In Denmark, a special unit is set up to fight cross-border crime throughout Scandinavia and to establish operational links with similar teams around the world. A hard-hitting series that soars to new heights of psychologically intense crime drama. Dramatically real stories with a chill that lingers longer than a Scandinavian winter.

In Copenhagen, charismatic detective Hallgrim Hallgrimsson (Jens Albinus) assembles a team of crime fighters equipped with the most advanced technology and high-tech weapons. Called "The Eagle" for his unerring intuition, Hallgrimsson exudes competence and self-assurance; but behind the dynamic facade is a tormented personality.

This extraordinary series has everything going for it - excellent actors; fascinating settings that cover Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Paris; and a sophisticated plot that makes most other crime dramas pale by comparison. Each episode is gripping, and the story unfolds in a series of unexpected twists. Can't recommend it highly enough to anyone who appreciates sophisticated crime drama.

One of the best crime series made anywhere in the world. Utterly believable and very cosmopolitan. I am a huge fan of British crime (never watch American crime series at all), but this is much better.

A real treat for modern crime fans. This series addresses topical global & international crime in a way that has you on the edge of your seat. Fine acting, wonderful locations and the subtitles are very well done. It does pay to watch each episode in order, as one segues into the next. I was, however, astonished at the technology and seemingly bottomless budget that the Danish police had at their disposal (a minor quibble, and perhaps that is the way it is?). I only wish they had made further series....
