Overview

Every year lives are lost amid the Force 10 storms and 30 feet waves of the North Sea and the treacherous waters of the North Atlantic. This fascinating series focuses on the keen competition between the crew of the fishing boats as they risk their lives in ferocious storms in their desperate hunt for a profitable catch.

This is the inside story of a brave yet largely unsung industry.

I love this series. In this soft day and age, it's incredible to see these Scottish fishermen risking their lives day after day in some of the most extreme conditions imaginable and it's exciting not just because of the danger. I practically hold my breath when the nets are hauled on board. How large is the haul? Is it the right type of fish? Will the catch bring a good price at the market? Was it worth risking riding out the storm or moving to another fishing ground? The 5 episodes per series go much too quickly and then it's a much too long wait until the next.

Wonderful documentary of an industry I have loved and improved technology with the same joy and heartbreak I have lived through. Well done ! Characters are fair dinkum which leaves the series far in front of most.
