Having been on an operating table a number of times over the last 2 1/2 years as treatment for both prostate and bladder cancer I did not think that seeing what goes on in surgery would be something that I wanted to see. WRONG - within minutes I was hooked. The skill and precision of the surgeon and his team was truly remarkable. The fact that the procedure ended up being much more difficult than first expected only added to a fascinating insight into surgery today. Apart from the surgeon, the team and all the equipment being seen on screen, I was staggered by a cutaway shot that showed the whole surgery. The amount of tubes, machines and equipment must have taken many hours to set up. A truly fascinating insight into a TEAM at work, being led by a skilled surgeon that not only performed the surgery but had to think on the run and come up with answers at the same time. Cant wait for next week.
