RocKwiz has been a staple of the SBS Saturday night programming line-up since it first started on air in early 2005. Hosted by the charismatic Julia Zemiro with help from Brian Nankervis as the firm but fair adjudicator, the program blends live music and pub trivia.

The real stars are often the punters pulled from the crowd on the night for their nerdy rock knowledge to sit either side of the special mystery musical guests in the faded splendour of the Esplanade Hotel’s Gershwin Room.

As always the combined musical genius of The RocKwiz Orkestra, Mighty Mark Ferrie, Peter ‘Lucky’ Luscombe, and Jumping James Black, provides the musical accompaniment to the musical performances.

Series 3 was produced in 2006 and the duration of each episode was extended from 26 minutes to 44 minutes, which allowed for a few new ideas to emerge.
