African School Series
Show Me the Money

Fly-on-the-wall documentary series portraying the everyday life of two schools in the Ugandan town of Masindi. The high school principal struggles to pay her staff and implements a new school fees policy.

With three quarters of the students at Masindi Secondary State School having failed to pay their school fees, Mrs Mukasa, the new headmistress, finds herself in dire financial straits and unable to balance the books and pay her staff.
Determined to make all children pay, she instigates a tough new gate policy supposed to catch the defaulters.
But the students, desperate to get in, resort to all sorts of tricks to attend class.
Although her policy proves successful in the end, it puts some students, whose families are really struggling financially, at risk of not getting a secondary education in a country where only primary education is free.
