Series Overview

GLOBAL VILLAGE takes us to the far corners of the globe where we will discover that the world really is an amazing place with 6 billion stories, and counting! With a total of four million kilometres travelled and 160 countries visited, this colourful series, presented and narrated by SBS's Silvio Rivier, reveals the lifestyles, traditions and hopes of an enormous range of people and cultures.

Screening Monday to Friday at 6.00pm this long-running series looks at the extraordinary ways that people in faraway places go about their day-to-day lives. Silvio says, "The series is a refreshing look at people who are different from us and yet very much like us. We immediately empathise with their lot in life. Above all it is about humanity and how old cultures and traditions find new meaning in the 21st century. Absolutely perfect for the armchair traveller'."

Screening 6pm week nights, Global Village leads into SBS World News. The series has been filmed by producers from many countries.
