Recent events in Canberra, the avalanche of Climate Change sceptics and deniers has certainly made the debate on climate change seem a bit of a circus act and has left many of us wondering, who the hell do we believe?

While this global issue is thrashed out in Copenhagen and the Liberals work out their stance on the Emission Trading Scheme (ETS) tax the above series shows us where the world is at regarding advances in alternative energy sources for tomorrow whether they be wind, solar, nuclear, hydrogen, electric, ethanol or its high-range offshoot - cellulosic ethanol. Listen out for it!

And what's heartening to learn also is that Arnold Schwarzenegger made a fantastic decision as Governor of California! As the state with the 10th largest world economy as well as being one of the biggest contributors of greenhouse gasses, Governor Arnie enacted a bill to make car manufacturers produce a new breed of car and truck that will emit 22% fewer greenhouse gasses by 2012 and 33% by 2016. We also meet the woman behind the bill, Fran Pavley. It's known as The Pavley Bill. A woman really worth listening to as indeed are many of the experts in this series.

If you are not a climate change scientist and don't have a clear stance on this or related issues such as  global warming and greenhouse gasses, the above series does offer hope and consolation for the future as well as shedding light on why an ETS tax on rich countries may be good for the planet as a whole.

The series from PBS USA admits that the US is the biggest consumer of fossil fuel and is one of the biggest polluters. An American expert admits that the US is at the heart of the problem and will be the heart of the solution of the energy problem for the world. All eyes will be on the USA and California in particular.

When you see Hum vees and huge stretch limos being replaced by smaller cars on Sunset Boulavard and Rodeo Drive, you'll know we've turned the corner on this thing called Climate Change.

And if you've got any dough left after the ETS deduction, you might pop the cork and celebrate!
