In the middle of the Pacific Ocean, there’s a chain of 76 atolls spread out over an area roughly the size of Europe.
The Tuamotus is one of the largest archipelagos in French Polynesia.
The pearl of the Tuamotus is the atoll of Fakarava, but with the development of tourism, Fakarava must rise to the challenge of preserving the ecosystem of its coral garden.
Fakarava has been designated a biosphere reserve by UNESCO. Family-run guesthouses and other tourist facilities supplement the island's economy.
