Living Black Season 22

WA Correspondent Craig Quartermaine reports on the WA Government's plan to close up to 150 remote Aboriginal communities in the state. Three years ago, the community of Oombulgurri was the first to be closed. Its 106 residents were forced to leave their homes and make new lives elsewhere. Cissy Gore-Birch tells Craig what it's really like to be disconnected from your homeland.

Living Black revisits some of the health stories featured in the program in 2014. In this episode we investigate the rise of methamphetamine use in the Kimberley region, we find out how communities are tackling ear health, and visit a culturally appropriate health and wellness centre in Rockingham, which is changing the lives of the local Noongar community.

Living Black takes a look back at some of the high profile justice stories featured in the program during 2014. In this episode, we revisit Tasmania’s controversial anti-protest laws, the issue of indefinite detention in WA and speak with the family of Mulrunji Doomadgee, more than a decade after their brother died in police custody on Palm Island in far north Queensland.
