የአውስትራሊያ ቀን በየዓመቱ ጃኑዋሪ 26 ቀን በብሔራዊ ቀንነት ይከበራል። መታሰቢያነቱም እ.ኤ.አ. በ1788 ዓ.ም. የእንግሊዝ የመጀመሪያ ሰፋሪዎች ሲድኒ መልህቃአቸውን የጣሉበትን ቀን ለማሰብ ሲሆን በአሁኑ ወቅት ግና የአዲሲቱ አውስትራሊያ ብሔራዊ ማንነት መዘከሪያ እየሆነ መጥቷል። ይሁንና በአውስትራሊያ ነባር ሕዝቦች ዘንድ ግና የአውስትራሊያ ቀን - የኃዘን ቀን፣ የወረራ ቀንና የህልውና ትድግና ቀን ተብሎ ይታሰባል። ይህንንኑ ተከትሎም አማራጭ ብሔራዊ ቀን እንዲሰየም ክርክሮች እየተካሄዱ ነው።
