The Walk for Respect held on 25 May 2014 in Lakemba, NSW began with a welcome to country and smoking ceremony and stepped-off to the music of the first Australians. There were also traditional drumming groups from the many cultures that make up the Australian multicultural community. The walk joined by more or less 500 people from different cultural background was organised by Federal Member Tony Burke MP as a friendly walk for harmony and respect.

Sipat Lawin Ensemble, composed of graduates of the Philippine High School for the Arts is performing at this year's New Wave Festival 'A Wake: Kids Killing Kids'; a documentary theatre account from the perspective of Filipino artists, Sipat Lawin Ensemble. It tells an account of their explosive co-adaptation of Koushun Takami's notorious Japanese teensploitation pulp thriller, Battle Royale, said to one of the bloodiest and most popular theatre productions in Filipino history.

For the first time ever – the inaugural Children's Festival is being celebrated in the City of Sydney held on Sunday 30 March 2014 at Belmore Park, Sydney. The Children's Festival events are the largest and most unique celebrations of multiculturalism for children and families in Australia. These are days of sharing, learning and exploring the culturally diverse modern cities that we all live in and share with one another. The festival - which is this year's first time that Filipino-Australian children has participated - aims that children of different multicultural background come together, experience sharing and understanding from a young age the different cultures within in their communities through the different cultural traditions, costumes, dances, performances, songs, games and many others.

A 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit Bohol, Cebu, and other islands in the Visayas, and parts of Mindanao and southern Luzon early Tuesday morning, causing centuries-old churches and modern buildings to crumble, and killing scores of people, and displacing at least two million. In its second year, chefs from the Centre for Culinary Arts in Manila flew to Melbourne in time for the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival. Like the previous year, the team at the CCA have generously shared their time and expertise so that Filipinos and friends in Melbourne can have a taste of Filipino cooking. This year, the team was headed by Philippine based Celebrity Chef Sau del Rosario.
