Os líderes das duas fações políticas palestinianas, Fatah e Hamas, assinaram um acordo no início da semana no Qatar, para a formação de um governo de unidade, com o objetivo de preparar as eleições para os territórios de Gaza e Cisjordânia. Um acordo que foi de imediato criticado por Israel. O governo israelita disse ainda que as negociações de paz entre Israel e o presidente palestiniano, Mahmoud Hamas não poderão continuar enquanto este estiver a trabalhar com o Hamas.
