Farewell to Yasmin Sayed in Sydney

After 33 years with SBS, Melbourne-based Urdu EP Yasmin Sayed, has decided to begin a new phase in her life, pursuing new interests, travelling and spending more time with family, particularly with her grandson. Yasmin is one of the most experienced and respected colleagues in SBS Radio. During a very long career at SBS, Yasmin has maintained a high editorial standard in the program. She’s had the honour of interviewing hundreds of dignitaries from all walks of life including Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan, famous Pakistani comedian Moin Akhtar, cricketer Shahid Afridi, legendary Urdu poet Ahmed Faraz and much much more. Yasmin’s retirement will be effective from 8 January 2014. We thank her for her enormous contribution to SBS and to the Urdu-speaking community in Australia.

SBS Radio’s Urdu Program held a Radiothon to help raise money for the Pakistan flood victims, where more than 1,500 people have been killed and 20 million are estimated to have been left homeless by the floods. They raised $35,000.
