Stuff We Found

As you may or may not be aware our very own Lee Lin Chin is one of the nominees for the Golden Logie, you know, that Australian award nobody really cares about. How do we know nobody cares about it? This is how:

Anyhow, it's kind of a big deal given that together with Waleed Aly's nomination it makes this year the most diverse Golden Logie competition ever. Which is kind of sad when the fact that you can say 'Hey not EVERYONE is white this time' makes it a historical event. Still, this is a very cool thing.

Of course not everyone is celebrating, in fact News Corps' the Daily Telegraph seem pretty upset:

They've claimed an 'insider' has come to them complaining about this years nominations being an embarrassment but it's hard to look past the glaring fact that the two candidates the 'insider' was doing all the complaining about happened to be the two non-white candidates. Which we're sure was just a coincidence, right?

The 'insider' has this to say about Lee Lin:

“Lee Lin Chin has developed a huge cult following on social media and that seems to have got her the nomination… you have to wonder how many of those people who voted for her actually watch SBS World News.”

and this about Waleed:

“What has Waleed ever done? Because he does an editorial slapping someone down every now and then, does that qualify him for a Gold Logie? And is The Project successful? No.”

So it seems the main problem this person has (and by extension 'The Daily Telegraph' who reiterated the sentiment that this was an embarrassment to the Logies in a later editorial) with the candidates nominated for the most popular TV personality award is the fact that they're popular. Go figure.

To us, it's pretty clear Lee Lin deserves the nomination and to then go on to win. Seriously, how can you not love this woman?
