Kirchmann won the second stage in a time of 1 hour, 57 minutes and 33 seconds with Komanski (Twenty16) finishing second to usurp Katie Hall (Unitedhealthcare) at the top of the general classification.
“Our plan was to have Lex Albrecht and myself as our team’s protected riders to conserve as much energy as possible and to have good position on the final climb,” Kirchmann told the Sacramento Bee.
Third on the stage was Trixi Worrack (Velocio-SRAM) who moved into second place overall ahead of Hall.
The final stage of the tour will see the peloton tackle a 54.7km circuit in Sacramento.
