Less than three weeks after the announcement that Rapha will end their partnership with Team Sky, the London clothing company confirmed their support of the newly formed Canyon//SRAM UCI Women’s WorldTour team.

Canyon//SRAM will be led by 2014 Australian female road cyclist of the year Tiffany Cromwell and Hannah Barnes (UK) with a total of nine riders from six countries. The news comes after the recent demise of the successful Velocio-SRAM team, and sees several riders and key team staff, including Cromwell, carry over into this new training and racing environment.

Velocio-SRAM make it four world TTT titles in a row
The Velicio-SRAM team claimed its fourth teams time trial title in a row at the UCI Road World Championships in Richmond, Virginia.

The team, directed by Ronny Lauke and Beth Duryea, will compete in the full WorldTour calendar with emphasis on the Amgen Tour of California and Philadelphia Cycling Classic in the Unites States of America, the Aviva Women’s Tour, and La Course by Le Tour de France. Further focus will be taken to qualify athletes to attend the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

A three-year agreement will see Rapha supply the team with racewear for competition in addition to outfitting staff and racers with off the bike in Rapha’s distinct, tailored City collection.

Riders will wear new livery designed by Rapha’s acclaimed design team and built on the Rapha Souplesse collection for women. Canyon//SRAM will also serve as a global platform, visible to fans worldwide, for development and testing of compelling new designs and products.

Rapha joins Canyon Bicycles of Germany and SRAM bicycle components of the United States in support of the team.

Canyon//SRAM will host a training camp in Majorca from December 8 to 20, 2016. Here, riders will be custom fit to their racewear and kit, Ultimate CF SLX and the Speedmax team bicycles, and be presented to the media and fans.

On working with Rapha, Directeur Sportif Beth Duryea said, “When Ronny and I discussed a clothing partner for our new team, there was instant agreement that we only wanted Rapha.

“Rapha share our passion and vision for cycling. They communicate this passion for cycling with remarkable stories, images and films and like our women’s team they want people around the globe to understand how amazing this sport is.”

The team will begin its 2016 season with Tiffany Cromwell racing the Australian national championships road race January 6-10, and Santos Women’s Tour on January 16. The team’s first full race will be Ladies Tour of Qatar on February 2-5.
