While the German has not taken a win since the final stage of the 2015 Vuelta a Espana after his horror early season crash in May this year, Trek-Segafredo has still achieved a coup with the signing of a rider with Degenkolb's palmares.

In addition to his 2015 monument victories, Degenkolb has also bagged Gent-Wevelgem, Paris-Bourges, Paris-Tours, the Vattenfall Cyclassics and several stages at the Vuelta, the Giro d’Italia, Critérium du Dauphiné and Paris-Nice.

It is little wonder the team has inked his commitment through to the end of 2019.

The adopted Australian Koen de Kort has signed with the outfit for two years, Trek-Segafredo recognising the Dutchman's domestique and lead out ability for not only Degenkolb since 2012 but his current team Giant-Alpecin through its many inceptions.

“I am hugely excited. Trek-Segafredo is a big, strong team. With John and Jasper (Stuyven) as our target men, I hope that we can continue to race with inspiration. I am really looking forward to this new challenge and working for the team goals, not only in the Spring races but throughout the season," de Kort said.
